Geno

Geno is my long lost college roommate.  I first met Geno when he dropped a TV down the stairwell from the 4th floor at our dorm at WSC.  Geno was a sax player and was also studying music.  We became roommates and became great friends.  He even spent some time living in North Adams.  Geno got away from the music field and decided to head out to sea.  He spent years captaining boats and going between Newport & St. Thomas.  On two different occasions he invited our family to Newport for a weekend of sailing.  The first time Jack was a baby we went and sailed on a boat called the Bear.  The Bear was a 40 foot sailboat.   It was a ball.  The next time Geno called he invited us down and said he had a bigger boat and told us to invite some friends.  We had an awesome time!  Geno treated us like kings, sailing all over Newport on this 70 or 80 foot mahogany sailboat boat with him and his crew of two beautiful Swedish girls.  It was a trip that will never be forgotten by any of us. I will be including some pictures from both of these trips soon.

Geno has now moved on to the next step of his exciting life.  He now captains Billy Joel's boat.  When he is not on the boat he is part of Joel's road crew.  He recently called me from Las Vegas.  He was back stage during the Billy Joel & Elton John's concert.  He thought I would enjoy listening to Elton John play Rocket Man via his cell phone. Geno and Billy have become good friends.  Geno accompanies Billy on road trips and has even been known to entertain Kristy Brinkley.

Below is the Christmas Card we got from Geno.  This is Billy's boat decorated for Christmas.
